What is Digital Piracy?
Digital piracy can come in many different forms. Some of those being file sharing, copying of media and redistribution. But Piracy goes far beyond just movies or music, It extends to art, images or videos for example. The rang of piracy has significantly increased over the past few years so artists especially are making less for their work. Those missing funds are what stunt careers and for some, making it impossible to sustainable produce media.
Piracy's effect on artists
A major factor behind piracy affecting artists is financially. Many new artists have lost out on career opportunities due to having not been paid for their work.
During 2007 Media piracy saw a significant increase, during the same time Netflix just launched their streaming service.

While on one hand, there are artists who are not getting compensated according to their work, on the other you have consumers who cannot justify paying for premiums or subscriptions filled mostly with content you'll never watch. and beyond that, the content available is completely out of your control.
